Charles Pas brengt een enorme dynamiek en variatie aan in een ogenschijnlijk simpele beweging. Hij toont zich daarin een bijzonder trefzekere theatermaker die zijn publiek volop aanzet zelf te duiden en te voelen.
Person Longing For Human
Desire is the driving force in Charles Pas’ expressive dance performance Person Longing For Human; a plea for the unarmoured approach to passionate love and life itself. Three performers pursue desire in all its different forms. Dreaming of complete communion and self-preservation, they explore the wealth of love. They enter into battle in cheerful choreography, in search of a place where you can feel pain and joy at the same time. Why should you fight when you know beforehand you’ll remain behind broken?
Press
“A spectacle just as fascinating as it is poignant, with a surprise at every turn. In the act, you recognise hesitant love, then lust and lovemaking, but also loneliness.” – ★★★★★ NRC
“A sweet-strong piece of work, in which Charles Pas stuns and intoxicates. It’s very moreish.” – Critic’s choice – Theaterkrant
Charles Pas (Antwerp, 1998)
Combines a burning determination with a greedy eagerness to learn; he literally and figuratively throws himself on stage, has no regard for genre and thus moves seamlessly between all disciplines. Through visceral movement, rhythmic choreography, immersive soundscapes and images, the viewer is transported into raw worlds full of emotion. Above all, Charles aims directly at the heart, with an urgency and precariousness that is immediately perceptible in the audience. Charles is looking for the authentic human and does not deny any side of humanity.
Charles: ‘Deep down, I have a fear of never finding true communion with my peers or of losing someone I love because of my own mistakes. Making performances is my ultimate pursuit to make these human struggles palpable and to dissect our fears.’
